A digital health founder had won an accelerator spot and had investor demos scheduled in eight weeks. She had clinical domain expertise, a clear product vision, and a deck that had already generated genuine interest from three healthcare-focused VCs. What she didn't have was a technical co-founder, a working product, or confidence that the team she'd engaged previously would deliver anything usable. That previous team — an offshore development agency — had spent three months and £40,000 of her accelerator grant producing a prototype that crashed under 10 concurrent users, stored patient data without encryption, and had an authentication flow that a first-year computer science student would have flagged as insecure. The demo day was eight weeks away. She arrived at our first call having already mentally written off the grant money and wondering whether to cancel the investor meetings. We took on the engagement with a clear constraint: the system had to be production-grade, not demo-grade. Healthcare data handling requirements — GDPR, NHS DSPT standards, audit logging — had to be built in from day one. Investors in this space don't just look at the product; they look at whether the technical decisions made are defensible under regulatory scrutiny.

We ran a compressed but fully disciplined build process — shipping a production-grade, GDPR-compliant care coordination platform in 7 weeks, one week ahead of the investor demo. The one-week buffer was deliberate: we used it for a third-party security review and to rehearse the demo under realistic concurrent load.

Client Feedback
“I talked to six agencies before Vanguard. They were the only ones who actually understood the product, challenged my assumptions on the data model, and shipped something I was genuinely proud to demo. Our lead investor asked who built it — that's the best compliment a technical partner can get. Eight months on, we're at 800 users and haven't touched the architecture.”
